What is Work-Based Learning?

Welcome to Work-Based Learning!

"You can't have a million dollar dream with a minimum wage work ethic."

I started this platform to be able to provide information as well as display how Alpharetta High School WBL program is working in the local community. WBL is a phenomenal program that is implemented nationwide in local high schools. It allows students to work in internships during their high school careers. Students gain experience in classes such as Audio and Visual Technology, Computer Science, Culinary, Engineering, and Health Care Sciences. WBL is the bridge from the classroom to the real world allowing students to allowing student to close the Gap between

"Career Related Education (CRE) provides structured, age-appropriate experiences which prepare students to be college and career ready. The range of CRE experiences begins with Career Awareness and Exploration in middle school and culminates with Work-Based Learning during the eleventh and twelfth grade. Work-Based Learning provides students the opportunity to receive credit while working in an environment related to their career pathway."

At the beginning of the program, as the WBL coordinator, I will work closely with each individual student in learning their interest and career goals and placing them in an opportunity that aligns with them. Fortunately, our Fall 2017 students have had the opportunity to work with local business. Such as:

  • Standard Club

  • Comprehensive Therapy Solutions

We are always looking for more companies to partner with. If you have a connection, or want to work with this program! Please feel free to contact me!

Remember these students our future workforce!
